Landfill carbon projects aim to achieve reliable, measurable and permanent emissions reductions — methane, present in landfill biogas, is permanently prevented from entering the atmosphere when destroyed and/or used for electricity generation. UniCarbo provides support at all stages of implementing projects of this scope, from registration to issuing credits.
.
The main reason is to mitigate the effects of climate change and demonstrate the company's commitment to sustainable practices.
Comply with environmental regulations that require the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
For companies operating in the waste, landfill and renewable energy sector that wish to register one or more emissions reduction projects.
Monthly monitoring of registered projects, monitoring indicators related to credit generation and project performance.
Preparation of monitoring reports for requesting and issuing credits, attesting to the efficient and permanent reduction of emissions.
For companies seeking to offset their atmospheric emissions and contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, we choose the portfolio that best aligns with your company and provide support in the transaction of credits.
Do you know how a carbon project is registered on the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) platform?
The Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) is a voluntary carbon market mechanism that allows the registration, certification and subsequent issuance of carbon credits. The VCS is the standard of Verra, the world's largest certifier of voluntary carbon offsets, which sets out the rules and requirements that all carbon projects must follow in order to be certified and validated.
This standard is known for its rigorous methodological approach and broad international acceptance, ensuring that CO2 emission reduction projects are verified according to high and recognized quality standards.
Submission of the preliminary project description (PDD) document, which details the methodology to be used, the project activities, and the emission reduction estimates.
Carrying out the Local Stakeholder Consultation (public consultation with local stakeholders).
Validation in which a validation/verification body (VVB) reviews the project structure, the PDD, and the comments received during the public comment period.
Registration of the project with the standard, demonstrating its suitability to issue credits.
Periodic, usually annual, monitoring of the carbon project.
Submission of a monitoring report, reviewed by a VVB, for application for issuance of credits.
