UniCarbo is the largest Brazilian company in the carbon market for landfill projects.
Since 2006, UniCarbo – Energia e Biogás has been providing consultancy in the area of decarbonization, helping companies reduce the impact of their atmospheric emissions.
We have specialized in the sanitation market, providing assistance in issuing carbon credits from the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in landfills in Brazil and around the world.
A leading player in the urban solid waste (MSW) and sanitary effluent sector, we have over 20 years of accumulated experience in the energy sector, including 16 years in the carbon credit monitoring and certification market for projects using biogas. In Latin America and Europe, we have already completed over 90 projects.

The Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) is a voluntary carbon market mechanism that allows the registration, certification and subsequent issuance of carbon credits. The VCS is the standard of Verra, the world's largest certifier of voluntary carbon offsets, which sets out the rules and requirements that all carbon projects must follow in order to be certified and validated.
This standard is known for its rigorous methodological approach and broad international acceptance, ensuring that CO2 emission reduction projects are verified according to high and recognized quality standards.

O Gold Standard for Global Goals (GS) é um mecanismo voluntário de mercado de carbono que permite o registro, certificação e posterior emissão de créditos de carbono.

O Global Carbon Council (GCC) é o primeiro mecanismo internacional voluntário de mercado de carbono sediado no Sul Global e, assim como outros mecanismos voluntários, permite o registro, certificação e posterior emissão de créditos de carbono.

O Cercarbono é o mecanismo de redução de emissões voluntário que desde 2017 atua no âmbito do mercado de carbono regulado da Colômbia, com mais de 160 projetos ativos
Ainda em fase de implementação se encontra o A 6.4, mercado de carbono regulado derivado do Artigo 6 do Acordo de Paris.
Typical process for registering, issuing and monitoring carbon credits.
Step 1
Submission of the preliminary project description (PDD) document, which details the methodology to be used, the project activities, and the emission reduction estimates.
Step 2
Carrying out the Local Stakeholder Consultation (public consultation with local stakeholders).
Step 3
Validation in which a validation/verification body (VVB) reviews the project structure, the PDD, and the comments received during the public comment period.
Step 4
Registration of the project with the standard, demonstrating its suitability to issue credits.
Step 5
Periodic, usually annual, monitoring of the carbon project.
Step 6
Submission of a monitoring report, reviewed by a VVB, for application for issuance of credits.
