UniCarbo participated in the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP 27 in 2022

Between November 12th and 17th, 2022, UniCarbo participated in COP27 held in the city of Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

After nearly 30 years of discussions, the world's richest countries have agreed to create a fund to help the most vulnerable nations recover from the losses and damage already caused by climate change.

Because these countries have historically emitted far more greenhouse gases, they are largely responsible for climate change. But these nations argue that they cannot be held legally liable to pay compensation to the countries most affected — and that they have contributed far less to the climate crisis.

The negotiations to create the fund were tough, difficult and prolonged.

Furthermore, at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, all world leaders who passed through Sharm El-Sheikh stated that the planet is on the brink of a climate disaster and that there is no time to waste.

In 2022, UniCarbo was responsible for issuing 63% of the credits issued in the CDM worldwide for projects in the landfill biogas category.

In the carbon credit market in Brazil, UniCarbo has consolidated expertise in managing landfill projects. We reached the milestone of 6.6 million credits in 2022, 90% of the amount of credits issued under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) in the same category.
