UniCarbo was one of the main sponsors of the Latin America Climate Summit event, promoted by the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), which will address the theme Carbon Markets for Net Zero: An Era of Growth, Convergence, Innovation and Opportunity. The event will take place between October 17 and 19, 2022, at Copacabana Palace, Rio de Janeiro, and will be of great importance to leverage discussions on the carbon market.

The 2022 Latin American Climate Summit was a pivotal event to discuss the region’s actions and challenges in the fight against climate change. The summit served as a meeting point for government leaders, experts, activists and civil society representatives, with the aim of strengthening regional cooperation and defining strategies to address the impacts of the climate crisis.

Main Objectives of the Summit:

Strengthen regional cooperation: Promote the exchange of experiences and the development of joint solutions to Latin America’s climate challenges.

Increase climate ambition: Encourage countries in the region to set more ambitious targets for reducing emissions and adapting to climate change.

Mobilize resources: Attract investments for climate change mitigation and adaptation projects in Latin America.

Strengthen the region's voice in international climate negotiations: Unite the positions of Latin American countries to have greater influence in global climate negotiations, such as COP27.
